Dear Members,
The Queensland racing industry recently came together to celebrate its finest achievers at the Queensland Racing Awards, an event that highlighted the exceptional talent, dedication and love for the horse that underpin our sport.
On behalf of the Queensland Thoroughbred Owners Association, I extend our warmest congratulations to all award winners and nominees. Your success is a testament to the passion, commitment, and professionalism that drive excellence across our industry.
We also acknowledge Racing Queensland for hosting an event that reflected the strength and vibrancy of the racing community in this state. It was a fitting celebration of achievement across all sectors of the industry.
While the occasion rightly showcased many of the sport’s leading participants, the QTOA remains committed to ensuring that the vital role of owners receives greater recognition in future award programs.
Owners are the foundation of the industry — their investment and enthusiasm make racing possible — and it is important that this contribution is acknowledged accordingly alongside all other stakeholders.
We look forward to continuing discussions with Racing Queensland on how best to enhance the profile and recognition of ownership within our shared celebrations of success.
Queensland Racing Review
As an industry, we continue to wait with keen interest for the Queensland Government’s response to the recent Queensland Racing Review after the planned stakeholder engagement session on October 13 was postponed.
As we have said on numerous occasions since the review process began, this review represents a significant opportunity to shape the direction of our sport in the years ahead and will have far-reaching implications for all stakeholders — owners, trainers, breeders, clubs, and administrators alike.
The QTOA understands the importance of this process and the uncertainty that surrounds it. We will continue to monitor developments closely and will keep members fully informed as soon as further information becomes available.
Our priority remains ensuring that the voice of owners is heard clearly in any future reforms and that outcomes support a sustainable and prosperous future for Queensland racing.
Acknowledgement
Finally, the QTOA extends its congratulations and thanks to Racing Queensland’s Richard Goodbody, who has accepted a role as CEO with Harness Racing Australia.
In his role as Executive General Manager Customer and Corporate Affairs at RQ, Richard has been a valued partner in our efforts to strengthen communication and collaboration across the industry.
We congratulate him on his new role and wish him every success in the next stage of his professional journey.

Hi,
I was a little disappointed that the 'TheInflictor' hasn't been given any recognition for his feats on the track this season. He won the Gateway in Dec 24, he then went on to win with Nash Rawiller in the saddle carrying 62.5kgs, he did it on his ear. He then won The Star BM85 HCP under Rachael King.
He is having a prep in Sydney and he finished a great third in the Five Diamonds Prelude at Royal Randwick which gave him automatic entry into the $2M Five Diamonds at Rosehill on the 8th November and he is a great chance.
Our boy has being amazing for all involved, he is doing great things and for racing Racing Qld.
