Dear Members,
It’s an exciting time for Queensland racing, with Queensland based horses continuing to make their presence felt on the national stage and showcasing the strength and depth of our industry.
Over recent weeks we’ve seen Queensland owned and trained runners competing on the highest stage in Sydney and Melbourne, reinforcing the growing confidence in our local form and the quality of horses being trained in Queensland.
This weekend we see trainers such as Tony Gollan and Chris & Corey Munce preparing their talented two-year-olds with an eye towards the Golden Slipper as they compete in Stakes races at Randwick, while the Kelly Schweida trained Sunrays competes in Saturday’s Group 1 Surround Stakes.
This highlights the strength of Queensland’s juvenile ranks and the increasing ambition of our participants to compete at the very highest level.
Closer to home, the upcoming Magic Millions March Yearling Sale presents another important opportunity for owners to invest in the future of Queensland racing.
The sale continues to attract strong interest and plays a vital role in supporting the pipeline of young talent entering our industry.
It also leads into one of the highlights of our local calendar, the Jewel Race Day at the Gold Coast Turf Club, which continues to grow in stature each year.
I encourage owners to take advantage of the exclusive Owners Offer available for Jewel Day, which is a great initiative recognising the contribution owners make to the sport and providing a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a premier race day experience.
Looking further ahead, anticipation is building for the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival, with Racing Queensland recently announcing details of this year’s program.
It is particularly pleasing to see Queensland Oaks Day positioned as part of the Queensland Day celebrations, which provides a wonderful platform to showcase our sport as part of the state’s broader festivities.
The Carnival continues to be a cornerstone of our racing calendar, attracting national attention and delivering significant opportunities for owners, participants and clubs alike.
With so much to look forward to over the coming months, it is clear that Queensland racing continues to build strong momentum both on and off the track. QTOA remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote participation, celebrate success and enhance the ownership experience across the state.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the Sales, the Jewel meeting and throughout the Carnival as we continue what promises to be another exciting period for our industry.
